Details

Habitrol Gum is an over-the-counter product specifically formulated to control the symptoms of nicotine withdrawal symptoms. It is an incredibly effective, reliable, and trusted aid to quitting smoking.

Habitrol gum contains only one-sixth to one-third of the nicotine typically found in a cigarette, which means that it replicates the effects of a cigarette. It does not have any of the other harmful chemicals or side effects related to smoking.

The symptoms associated with nicotine withdrawal are unpleasant and uncomfortable. They can include anxiety, excessive sweating, irritability, mood swings, and exhaustion.  These symptoms can cause a smoker to get discouraged when quitting smoking altogether, slowing down any efforts they may make.

Habitrol gum satisfies the body's craving for nicotine in a way that is controlled and measured. When you chew Habitrol gum, minuscule amounts of nicotine are released and then absorbed through the lining of your mouth.

This smoking cessation method has worked for countless people, and it can work for you too.  It can be used effectively as part of a broader stop-smoking program for those who cannot go completely "cold turkey. "

Habitrol gum can also be used by smokers who are not ready to quit smoking entirely and are instead looking for a temporary nicotine replacement.  In each of these cases, this gum can give you the momentum and encouragement you need to take control of your cigarette consumption.

Directions

Habitrol chewing gum is used as part of a stop-smoking or smoking reduction strategy by those who are unable or unwilling to quit on their own and as a step towards stopping completely.  Smokers use Habitrol chewing gum when they feel the urge to smoke.  The nicotine in Habitrol is released into the body as you chew.  The nicotine from the Habitrol replaces the nicotine from cigarettes.  Habitrol chewing gum contains less nicotine than a cigarette (about 1/3 or  1/6 of the nicotine in a cigarette).

Use the "park-and-chew" method when using Habitrol gum.  Do not drink acidic beverages, such as coffee or soda, at least 15 minutes before chewing Habitrol gum because they may interfere with the buccal absorption of the nicotine into the body.  You may not receive the required dosage of nicotine that eliminates your withdrawal symptoms if you drink acidic beverages right before you chew nicotine gum.

Chew one piece of gum when you feel the urge to smoke to help you alleviate your withdrawal symptoms.  For those using the 2mg dosage, chew only 8-12 pieces per day, up to a maximum of 20 pieces of gum per day.  For those using the 4mg dosage, chew only 4-6 pieces of gum per day, up to a maximum of 10 per day.  Do not chew more than one piece of nicotine gum per hour.

After three months of using Habitrol nicotine gum, the user should reduce the number of pieces of gum chewed per day to 1 to 2 pieces.  The time it takes to get to this point should be about six months.  It may require additional counseling and support to maintain this routine and achieve success.

The use of the "Quit Now Program" and "Combination Therapy" may be the critical factor that will help you quit smoking.  Habitrol gum should be a part of your overall quit-smoking strategy.  Consistently following the recommendations of the Quit Now Program can lead to finally being able to quit smoking forever!

Quit Now Program

Those serious about quitting can get help from the Quit Now Program.  Quit Now Program participates will be advised to stop smoking completely. Those who cannot quit smoking can gradually reduce the number of cigarettes before completely giving them up. Consult a healthcare professional if you can not reduce the number of cigarettes smoked within six weeks of starting treatment. Start the Quit Now program when you reached a point where you feel you are ready to give up smoking entirely.

The strength of nicotine gum should be chosen by the smoker depending on their individual needs.  Those highly dependent on smoking and who have tried and failed to quit smoking despite using the 2mg gum should turn to the 4mg strength. Otherwise, the 2mg strength would suffice.  The 2mg dosage is for smokers of less than 20 cigarettes per day.  The 4mg dosage is for those smokers of more than 20 cigarettes per day.

Chew Habitrol gum slowly and use no more than 20 pieces per day.  Smokers under the age of 18 years should use Habitrol gum under the supervision of a healthcare professional.   The Quit Not Program is not for those under the age of 12 years.  Consult a healthcare professional if you have not entirely stopped smoking within 6-9 months from the beginning of treatment.

Combination Therapy

Combination Therapy can significantly benefit those who find themselves reverting to smoking after using a single form of nicotine replacement therapy (NRT).  If you have difficulty controlling your cravings, then you can combine Habitrol Patches Step 1 with Habitrol Chewing Gum 2mg.  Note that Habitrol Chewing Gum 4mg should not be used with Habitrol Patches.  Combination Therapy has a 12-week long program.  After the end of the 12-week Program, One of the following steps can start:

  1. Stop using Habitrol Patches and start to reduce your use of Habitrol Gum gradually.
  2. Continue using Habitrol Patches Step 2 for 3-4 weeks longer. After that time, switch to Habitrol Patches Step 3 for another 3-4 weeks.  Continue to use Habitrol Chewing Gum 2mg during this time.  After you stop using Habitrol Patches, gradually reduce your use of Habitrol Chewing Gum.

How to chew Habitrol gum

Chew Habitrol nicotine gum using the "Park-n-Chew" method.  When you feel nicotine withdrawal symptoms, chew a piece of Habitrol gum.  Once you start chewing the gum, you will feel a tingling sensation in your mouth. Park the gum between your tongue and cheek for approximately one minute or until the tingling sensation has subsided, then chew the gum again.  Repeat this technique for about 30 minutes.  The alternating between chewing and parking the gum is known as the "Park-n-Chew" method.  By the end of it, the urge to smoke will have disappeared, and the tingling sensation will have also subsided.

Each piece of chewing gum contains around 2 to 4 milligrams of nicotine.   Other ingredients are listed below:
